Throughout 2018 (and into the beginning of 2019), my anxiety was at its worst. I was in a stressful job, I was overwhelmed, and I was losing hope. My anxiety was affecting me in a ton of ways, including:
Not being able to fall asleep at night
Terrifying scenarios of drowning, car crashes, etc. forcing themselves into my head
Weariness (I was ready for bed by 8 PM)
Pulling out my hair
Anxiety attacks (thankfully this only happened twice within the past year)
I’m not gonna lie, it was rough. It took me a while to fully understand just how deeply my anxiety was affecting my life. But after I did, I began to work on getting a grip on it. Eventually, I found four main things that help with my anxiety. CBD oil is one of them.
I started paying attention to CBD oil a while ago when my husband got some. He’s very into keeping his body healthy and strong, and he loved all of the benefits of CBD oil. I was too scared to try it because I was afraid it would taste bad (I’m a picky eater), so I left it alone.
But after I started actively looking for things (other than medicine) to calm my anxiety, I became more open to the idea. Then I got the opportunity to try some for free through Essential Health.
It took a few days to a week before I noticed the effects of the CBD oil. I kept my dosage low—half a dropper in the morning and half a dropper at night—and it seemed to work well. According to the usage guide that came with my oil, the maximum amount of CBD oil to consume per day is 2 full droppers. So I was at half the maximum when I started seeing results.
The Biggest Benefit I Noticed from Using CBD Oil
As I mentioned up above, one of the things I was struggling with was terrible scenarios forcing themselves into my head. I’d be in bed, trying to fall asleep, and all my mind would do was play situations where I died, my husband died, one of us was kidnapped, etc. It was awful.
About a week or two into using CBD oil, those thoughts didn’t stop. But they did change. The scenarios would start out the same, but they’d end on a positive note—we’d be rescued, a truck that was going to hit my car swerved at the last minute, on and on. It was strange, but I was grateful for the switch.
After another week or two, the scenarios stopped completely.
As I was trying a lot of things at once, I’m not crediting all of this to CBD oil. While I think it helped, I also believe that tons of prayer + faith in God and my weighted blanket were part of the solution. I also use frankincense essential oil to calm my anxiety (and for a variety of other things).
Does CBD Oil Help with Anxiety?

Note: an interesting thing I noticed is that the CBD oil didn’t seem to have any effect on my social anxiety. That may change as I up my dosage. I’ll try to update this as I keep going.

According to every article I’ve read (and Essential Health’s website), CBD oil with more than 0.3% of THC is illegal.
In the test results that came with my CBD oil, there was 0.044% total of THC. That’s WAY below the limit.
What’s the Difference Between CBD and THC?
I’m not even going to pretend to be an expert here, so this is a direct quote from Essential Health’s blog:
“THC originates from several varieties of marijuana (Cannabis indica) and provides a “high” that makes marijuana famous. CBD primarily comes from varieties of hemp (Cannabis sativa), which does not produce a psychoactive effect.” - Read more about the science behind it here.
So How Do I Find a Safe CBD Oil Brand?
There are a lot of brands that sell CBD oil. So how do you know if your CBD oil is safe?

Buying Tips for CBD Oil
Make sure the brand participates in third party testing of CBD oil. This holds the company accountable and makes sure that they can’t alter their results. Plus third party test results are available to the public.
Make sure the brand is transparent. Do they make their test results easily accessible? Is it easy to communicate with them and ask questions?
Make sure the brand isn’t telling you they’ll cure you. The FDA doesn’t allow these types of claims to be made about CBD oil, and it’s a red flag of the company’s trustworthiness.
Make sure the brand uses hemp grown in the USA, Europe, or Canada. Strict regulations for hemp farms in these countries help to keep the hemp from absorbing bad chemicals.

Please note that I’m not guaranteeing that CBD oil will help with any of these things. It’s still a relatively new thing in the world of health, and everyone’s got a lot to learn.
How Do You Use CBD Oil?
According to the CBD oil usage guide I got, you should do these things:
Brush your teeth before taking CBD oil so that it has a chance to be fully absorbed.
Shake the bottle well.
Fill your dropper to the appropriate amount (follow the guidelines that come with your oil).
Put the CBD oil under your tongue and hold it there for 30-60 seconds. Then swallow.
Take one dose in the morning and one at night.
Other CBD Oil Tips:
While there are no known overdoses of CBD oil, you should still follow the dosage guidelines you get with your oil.
Take your CBD oil right after brushing your teeth in the morning and evening. This way, you’re sure to remember to take it.
Traveling with CBD Oil
CBD oil is federally legal, but it’s still not legal in all states. Make sure you check before buying it/traveling with it.
